Oboz x Public Lands Hike Challenge

The Oboz x Public Lands Hike Challenge is a virtual, “hike anywhere” event happening October 1st through October 31st, with registration opening September 15th and running through the event. 

The Oboz x Public Lands Hike Challenge is not about how far or fast you can go; it’s about how often. Just choose any trail one mile or longer, record it on your tracking device, and you'll be on your way. 

Oboz is a Unity Blaze Certified business, which means it is recognized as an organization that invites and welcomes any and everyone to the outdoors. As a participant of the Oboz x Public Lands Hike Challenge, we hope you will invite others along on your hikes and pass along all the positive benefits that come from hiking and being outside!

Like all Oboz events, the Oboz x Public Lands Hike Challenge is free to register and sign up is easy.

  • September 15 - Registration is open (and continues through the last day of the challenge)
  • October 1 - Start of Challenge (12 am MDT)
  • October 3 - Public Lands Kickoff Event in Cranberry, PA  
  • October 5 - Public Lands Kickoff Events in Framingham, MA and Woodbury, MN 
  • October 31 - Last day of Challenge (11:59 pm MDT)
  • November 1 - Grand prize drawing

REACH MILESTONES, BE ENTERED TO WIN

Reach milestone hikes and earn badges. And the more you hike, the more entries you will have for the grand prize drawing at the end!

  • Four milestone opportunities
    • Digital badges will show on your dashboard once you reach your 1st, 10th, 20th, and 30th hikes
  • One grand prize drawing to include all active participants
    • Each properly completed, recorded, and uploaded hike equals one entry into the Grand Prize drawing (up to 30 maximum entries)

Registration Details

1. Create an account with Terrain Scouts.

2. Register for the Oboz x Public Lands Hike Challenge.

3. Link an activity tracking account to the challenge (don’t worry, there are several free tracking options! You’ll be able to create one if you don’t already have one). 

4. If you are using an activity tracking app on your phone, be sure it is downloaded and that you are logged on. Better yet, go test it out and make sure you know how to start, end, and save your activities before the challenge starts.

The Oboz x Public Lands Hike Challenge is open to walkers, hikers, runners, and those folks requiring ADA devices.
